Iran hangs 21-year-old convicted of rape committed as a minor

A 21-year-old man convicted of raping three boys when he was a teenager and sentenced to death has been hanged despite a chief justice's order that the case be reviewed.

Makwan Moloudzadeh was executed late Tuesday and his family told to come pick up his body for burial Wednesday, the Human Rights Watch said.

Authorities detained Makwan in 2006 on charges he had had sexual intercourse with three teenagers, all under the legal age of 18, in the Iranian Kurdish town of Paveh, some 700 kilometers (440 miles) west of Tehran.

The charges stemmed from complaints raised by the teenagers' families claiming Makwan had committed the rape eight years ago, when he was 13 years old.

During the trial in a court in the nearby city of Kermanshah, Makwan tried unsuccessfully to revoke his earlier confession to the crime, which was extracted under coercion. His lawyer said that after the verdict, the plaintiffs dropped their accusations.

Local judicial authorities speedily approved the execution, and it was ''carried out quickly,'' the lawyer said.

''Makwan was hanged on Wednesday and his body was given to his family for funeral ceremony in Paveh,'' the lawyer added. The case was full of ambiguities, including a lack of investigation and evidence, and said he would sue the judges on behalf of Makwan's parents if they decide so.
Only this year, Iran has hanged dozens convicted on charges of rape, robbery and kidnapping, which along with sodomy and male homosexuality, are all capital offenses in the Persian nation.

The London-based Amnesty International says Iran has executed five persons under the age of 18 in 2007, and 27 since 1990. According to HRW, Iran is the world's leading executor of children, and has executed people under the age of 18 and adults who committed a crime when they were under the legal age -- both of which is prohibited under the U.N. rights of the child convention, which Iran is a signatory.

Four days after she was spared the lash but jailed by a Sudanese court for insulting Islam, British schoolteacher Gillian Gibbons received a presidential pardon Monday and was deported from the country. But while her alleged crime — permitting her primary students to name a Teddy bear "Mohammad" — garnered the Khartoum regime a good deal of international condemnation for its radical justice, the charges against Gibbons and her famous bear were incidental to a larger struggle playing out in Sudan — the manipulation of Islam in the pursuit of personal and political power.

From the beginning, in fact, the case against Gibbons was never really about her alleged insensitivity to Islam. Western and Sudanese sources tell TIME the ordeal began from an employment dispute at the school where Gibbons worked. Sarah Khawad, a former secretary at the school who had recently lost her job, allegedly dug up a letter Gibbons had sent to her students' parents in September informing them that each child would take home a Teddy bear and record the evening in a diary. The class had named the bear Mohammad, Gibbons wrote. According to the sources, Khawad, a Sudanese citizen, encouraged two parents to register a complaint of religious outrage with the Education Ministry. When the parents declined, she allegedly registered the complaint herself. Khawad's simple charge of a Westerner defiling the Muslim prophet was too explosive for the regime to ignore, and Gibbons was soon arrested.

Feb. 15 (Bloomberg) -- A Danish court convicted a Muslim youth of involvement in plotting a terror attack and overruled a jury's guilty verdicts on three other men in the country's first terrorism trial.

The Eastern High Court's three judges today ruled that the evidence supported the jury's conviction of Abdul Basit Abu-Lifa, 17, though not of his co-defendants, Nanna Blach, spokeswoman at the court in Copenhagen, said in a telephone interview. The court sentenced Abu-Lifa to seven years of prison.

The defendants, aged between 17 and 22 and all Danish citizens, were the first to be tried under legislation passed in 2002. The law was designed to make it easier to convict people who support an act of terror.

In October 2005 Bosnian police found in a Sarajevo apartment 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of explosives, some of which was attached to a belt, and a video with instructions on how to perform a suicide bombing. They also found Internet and mobile telephone correspondence with the Danish men, which led to their arrests in Copenhagen later that month.

February 14, 2007 -- It was a cold Monday night in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sulejman Talovic parked in the west parking lot at the Trolley Square mall, but he wasn't there for Valentines sales.

Sulejman Talovic came with a pump-action 12-gauge shotgun, a bandolier around his waist, and a backpack loaded with extra ammunition and a .38-caliber handgun. Talovic met his first two victims as he left the parking lot, firing off two rounds as they fell helplessly to the ground.

"Die, motherf-----," Talovic yelled at them, according to witnesses. 1

He then moved deliberately through the ground floor, firing round after round at helpless others. Witnesses inside said Talovic sometimes said nothing, and other times would either say "Die, motherf-----," or order his victims not to look him in the face. 2

Eventually, five people were slaughtered and four were seriously wounded. The damage would have been much worse if it wasn't for an off-duty police officer and an amazingly fast response by police. The first officers arrived only 3 minutes after the first call, and a SWAT team finally killed Talovic only 3 minutes after that.3

According to virtually all media outlets, no motive has been determined, and few have even dared to speculate.

The glaring omission is this: Sulejman Talovic is a Muslim refugee from Bosnia. 4In fact, "Sulejman" is a Muslim name, taken from the Muslim conqueror of the Balkans, Suleiman the Magnificent. 5

"Most Bosnian refugees abhor violence," Elvis Hadzialijagic, a Bosnian restaurant owner in Salt Lake said. "We had enough of that." 1

Apparently not this one. Unfortunately, Talovic was most likely too young at the time to have learned the lessons of his homeland, and appreciate how America saved him from it all.

It is also worth noting the Talovic spent a majority of his shooting spree inside a card shop, where he fired at every single person shopping for Valentines gifts. Many Muslims believe that Valentines day is immoral. 3

Islamic message boards lately have been instructing individual Jihadis to "keep it simple." The internet has been a tool as of late for creating these "virtual cells" of terrorists who never become part of formal organizations, but are encouraged to carry out these acts of violence. 6

There is no discernible pattern to Talovic's targets. He wasn't targeting 18 year old girls to avenge a past heart break. He wasn't targeting boys that may have picked on him in school.

Just any American will do.

The Salt Lake Tribune8 speculates that perhaps young Sulejman Talovic just "didn't fit in." It fails to suggest the possibility of "killing the infidel."

A sizable majority of Palestinians support the continued kidnappings of Israelis as well as persistent Qassam rocket fire as a means to pressure Israel to release Palestinian prisoners, according to a new poll commissioned by the Jerusalem Media and Communication Center, the results of which were released Sunday.

Of the 1,197 respondents from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, 66.8 percent expressed support for further kidnappings of Israeli civilians while 77.2 percent backed the Kerem Shalom tunnel operation and subsequent kidnapping of Israel Defense Forces Corporal Gilad Shalit.

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Hezbollah militants crossed into Israel on Wednesday and captured two Israeli soldiers. Israel responded in southern Lebanon with warplanes, tanks and gunboats, and said seven of its soldiers had been killed in the violence.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called the soldiers' capture "an act of war," and his Cabinet prepared to approve more military action in Lebanon — a second front in the fight against Islamic militants by Israel, which already is waging an operation to free a captured soldier in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli army said three soldiers were killed in the initial raid, and four others were killed when their tank went over a land mine in southern Lebanon.

A casual observer will note that this blog does not simply publish anti-Islamic opinion pieces, but strives to publish actual stories about Muslims committing the atrocities described.

Tolerance is a good thing we all must cultivate, but tolerance does not mean abandoning standards, or accepting immoral standards.

One cannot compare racism, anti-semitism, homophobia, sexism, etc. with the beliefs of those who are anti-Islamic. It may surprise some that stories pertaining to religious intolerance, abuse of women and minorities, murder (both illicit and state-sanctioned), racism, and all other ills caused by MUSLIMS are EVERYWHERE. These are not simply opinion pieces where someone simply says "I do not like Muslims." These are fact-based stories that, permeate world news from all parts of the globe. Islam is a social disease of immense proportion wherever it has spread. The problem is that the world is so caught up in trying to be fair and tolerant that it cannot legitimately criticize a so-called religion that has little, if any, redeeming value (and I am being charitable here -- as far as I can see, Islam has NO value). And any value that Islam does possess does not counteract its violence, its bigotry, its lack of any meaningful cultural value or appreciation, etc.

We are once again witnessing Israel move into the Gaza strip. Israel's response was predictable as, sadly, was the response of many in the world who condemn Israel for defending itself.

This blog is not about defending Israel, or sounding off on the Israel/Palestinian dispute. There are many blogs that do just that.

However, Muslim Palestinians are NOT innocent civilians caught in the Gaza crossfire. These are people who REPEATEDLY have attacked a civilized country (Israel), declared war on that country, have voted a terrorist shadow government to lead them, and support (by 80% according to recent polls!) continued attacks on civilians as well as military targets. These are terrorists, and the only reason that they are asking for a truce in Gaza is because they are LOSING. Israel is foolish for allowing this element in Gaza to remain. It should have removed the Palestinian population from the area many years ago.

Once again, Palestinian muslims support terrorism . . . even after they have been pounded in Gaza.

JERUSALEM, July 9 (Reuters) - A majority of Palestinians back the abduction of a Israeli soldier and the firing of rockets at Israel although nearly half feel these actions could ultimately hurt them, a poll on Sunday showed.

The Jerusalem Media and Communications Centre surveyed a random sample of 2,000 people in the Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank during an ongoing Israeli incursion in Gaza to free the soldier captured in a June 25 cross border raid.

The results suggested growing frustration with the offensive that has killed more than 50 Palestinians since June 28, and has compounded an already worsening economic crisis spurred by a world boycott of the Hamas-led government.

The poll, conducted on July 6 and 7, showed 77 percent of Palestinians backed the capture of Corporal Gilad Shalit, while 22 percent were opposed, a statement from the centre said.

More than 60 percent favoured the rocket attacks on southern Israel, the survey found, though Israel has vowed to put a halt to such fire as an additional aim of the current offensive.

Nearly 47 percent, or close to half of those interviewed, said they expected the crisis with Israel over the soldier's capture to ultimately incur losses to their side, while 37 percent thought they stood to gain from the incident.

Supreme [Muslim] Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made the threat two days before the U.N. nuclear watchdog reports on whether Iran is meeting Security Council demands to halt uranium enrichment.

"The Americans should know that if they assault Iran their interests will be harmed anywhere in the world that is possible," Khamenei was quoted as saying by state television.

"The Iranian nation will respond to any blow with double the intensity," he added. [Which means more Muslim-induced terrorism worldwide.]

With another muslim nutcase blowing his sorry butt off in Israel, killing 9 and injurying over 60, the time is LONG overdue for another sort of peace proposal. Oslo Accord? Nope, not needed. I'm advocating the 48-Hour Plan, and whether you live in Israel or have no connection with the country, consider supporting this plan because it will bring peace to the area.

Under the 48-Hour Plan, muslims have 48 hours to get their posteriors out of the area and into Jordan, Egypt, or some other screwed up country that thinks that they are okay. No need for any more wall building -- just get the nutcases out of the area period . . . with guns, tanks, and bulldozers if necessary.

Sure, a lot of protests will erupt -- for a while. But they will end, and public opinion around the globe will quickly forget the whole thing, peace will once again come to the Holy Land, and other countries will not have to shoulder the tired excuse for terrorism that "Your country supports Israel which enslaves the Palestinians." No more Palestinians, no more problem.

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German court sentenced a man of Turkish origin to more than nine years in prison on Thursday for the so-called "honor killing" of his sister but found two other brothers not guilty of conspiring in the murder.

The murder of 23-year-old Hatun Surucu, who was shot while standing at a bus stop in a Berlin suburb last year, shocked Germany and sparked intense debate about a conservative Muslim immigrant community at odds with mainstream society.

Forced to marry a cousin in Turkey as a young girl, Hatun Surucu later broke with her Turkish-Kurdish family in Berlin and was living independently with her five-year-old son, to the intense disapproval of her relatives, prosecutors said.

"This young woman, who loved life, was a victim because she lived life as she saw fit, and that's why she was shot by her brother right here among us," Judge Michael Degreif said.

[Family members] cheered briefly on hearing the judgment, while their brother, who said he acted alone, laughed. Prosecutors said they would appeal against the decision.

Public outrage at the murder was exacerbated when boys at a nearby school with many pupils from immigrant families were reported to have openly applauded the killing shortly afterwards because the victim had lived "like a German."

He said hearing a Navy officer sobbing in court made his day. "So you would be happy to see 9/11 again?" Prosecutor Rob Spencer asked. "Every day until we get you," the bearded [Muslim] shot back.

It's an absolute taboo. In total impunity, numerous mullahs, those religious men who, in Pakistan, the "country of the Purs", figure amongst the most respected men in the community, sexually aggress or rape their young students in the madrassas, the koranic schools. In Lahore, a few months ago, a Qazim's mother * (his name has been modified to protect him), 6 years of age, found her unconscious son, coverd in blood on the doorsteop of a mosque. The youngster was following religious courses there. That afternoon, his teacher sent home all the other children. He locked Qazim in his room, threatened to beat him, before raping him. The young boy's father, a modest rickshaw driver, complained to the authorites and got the religious instructor detained. The family received many threats from local religious chiefs and from their neighbours who warned: "Be careful, the chiefs have friends in Al Qaeda!"


Another eloquent case, that of a ten year old child, raped in 2003 by a mullah. The latter threatened to kill him if the child talked. The child became ill and it was only in the hospital that he told his mother what had happened. The grand-father lodged a formal complaint but the rapist was never arrested.

Sexual and physical abuse

These facts are reported regularly by the Pakistani press even if the majority of victims never report the abuse.

This is where the difficulty lies in the famous madrassas that give poor Pakistani chldren an education. The families believe that if their children can recite their Holy Book, then the family will be washed of all its sins and will go directly to Paradise. In reality, it's a living hell that awaits these children.

Apart from the sexual abuse, the children live in unsanity conditions and the abuse occurs daily. In Faisalabad, Atif, 11 years old, the children were regularly chained and beaten. When he rebelled against this type of treatment, the mullah punished him in an exemplary manner: he tied him with electric cables and beat him until he passed out. The child's father, notified by the mullah that his son was ill, found his son locked in a room, unconscious and bleeding from the mouth and the nose. He brought him to the emergency ward of the Lahore hospital where the doctors feared for his life. Atif survived but with psychological wounds from which he will never recover.

Abid, 16 years of age, paid a heavy price for refusing advances from his teacher in a madrassa in Karachi where his father sent him. "I was 14 at the time. The mullah, Qari Amin, tried to corner him. Each time, I managed to repulse him. One day, I told him that I would tell the director of the school. He gto angry and I fled to my parents". His teacher followed him home, armed with a jar of acid that he flung in the young boy's face. Since that time, the boy is disfigured and blind. He wears a cap to hide his scalp, ravaged by the acid. His father, Harun, simple taxi driver, horrified by the destiny of his child, wanted to lodge a criminal complaint despite the risk of revenge. "The trial still hasn't occurred and I am still getting threats", explains Harun. "I am scared every day, because I know that they are watching me. The father of the mullah is rich and has influence, I don't".

According to a specialist from Islamabad, " in that closed environment of religious boarding schools, the young boys are under total control, which facilitates rape. Everyone knows that there are pedophile mullahs, but nobody dares speak of it. A culture of impunity has been established. And, since our justice system functions with bribes and networks of influence, the gulty are rarely punished.". A journalist at the daily newspaper THE NATION, N., who wishes to remain anonymous, assures us that it remains difficult to publish reports about violence and abuse in the madrassas: "The press is without a controlling entity, and when the religious groups put pressure on us, we are obliged to censor ourselves".

However, as soon as we bring up the subject, people's tongues seem to untie themselves. Hamed, a respectable businessman of 50, tells us privately: "I was in a madrassa when I was 12. The mullah found me quite to his liking because I had fair skin. He tried to sodomize me but as I was already quite big, I threw myself at him and hit him before running off. I never told my parents nor my friends. I tried to forget that story".

A Muslim couple in India have been told by local Islamic leaders that they must separate after the husband "divorced" his wife in his sleep.


The Press Trust of India said in a report published on Monday that Sohela Ansari had told friends that her husband Aftab had uttered the word "talaq", or divorce, three times in his sleep.

When local Islamic leaders [aka "Imams" aka "Mullahs" aka "Common Muslim Sexual Predators Posing as Holymen" -- ed] heard about the incident, they said Aftab's words constituted a divorce under an Islamic procedure known as "triple talaq".

The couple, married for 11 years with three children, were told that they had to split.

The religious leaders ruled that if the couple wanted to remarry they would have to wait at least 100 days. Sohela would also have to marry another man, spend at least a night with him and be divorced by him.

The couple, who live in the eastern state of West Bengal, have refused to obey the order, and the issue has been referred to a local family counselling centre.

India's minority Muslim population is governed by Islamic personal laws on issues such as marriage, divorce and property inheritance.

Zafarul-Islam Khan, an Islamic scholar and editor of an Islamic newspaper, The Milli Gazette, said: "This is a totally unnecessary controversy and the local 'community leaders' or whosoever has said it are totally ignorant of Islamic law.

"The law clearly says any action under compulsion or in a state of intoxication has no effect. The case of someone uttering something while asleep falls under this category and will have no impact whatsoever."

Islamic scholars differ on whether the triple divorce pronounced concurrently by the husband is to be considered as a single divorce or three separate divorces.

If it is considered as three divorces, then the couple cannot be married again unless someone else marries the woman and chooses to divorce her [Translation: Islamic law is so stupid, it is funny -- ed.].

Most scholars state that if the husband pronounces the divorce of his wife three times on one occasion, it will be counted as three divorces.

Other scholars say it should be counted as only one pronouncement of divorce.

Sectarian threats purge 30,000 Iraqis from homes

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Sectarian violence has displaced more than 30,000 Iraqis -- victims of gunmen who warn them to leave or die -- since a Shi'ite shrine was bombed last month, the government said on Wednesday.

The attack on the mosque in Samarra on February 22 touched off reprisals and pushed Iraq toward civil war. The bodies of hundreds of victims of communal violence have been dumped along the streets, many bound and showing signs of torture.

The bloodshed has also created a potential humanitarian crisis. Thousands of families had to flee their homes after being threatened with death because of their sect.

Sattar Nawrouz, spokesman for the Ministry of Displacement and Migration, estimated 33,000 people have been uprooted by insurgents or Islamic militants bent on purging areas of Shi'ites or Sunni Arabs.

"The cabinet has allocated 500 million dinars ($340,000) to help the expatriated families all over Iraq," said Nawrouz.

That amounts to $10 a person.

The Geneva-based International Organization for Migration (IOM) expressed its concern on Wednesday, putting the number of displaced at 30,000 in Iraq and saying their suffering would not ease as long as sectarian violence rages.

A man who would only give his first name, Saad, said dozens of Sunni insurgents raided his neighborhood in Latifiya south of Baghdad and killed his two brothers. He was shocked to learn that some of the attackers were actually his neighbors.

"They were my neighbors. I knew them, they were greeting us in daylight and killing us during the night," he said, in an abandoned building that is now home to 300 refugees.

KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan man who had faced the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity has been released from prison after the case was dropped, the justice minister said Tuesday.

Deputy Attorney General Mohammed Eshak Aloko told the AP that prosecutors had issued a letter calling for Rahman's release because "he was mentally unfit to stand trial." He also said he did not know where Rahman was staying but that he may be sent overseas for medical treatment.

Hours earlier, hundreds of clerics, students and others chanting "Death to Christians!" marched through the northern Afghan Mazar-i-Sharif to protest the court's decision Sunday to dismiss the case.

"Abdul Rahman must be killed. Islam demands it," said senior Cleric Faiez Mohammed, from the nearby northern city of Kunduz. "The Christian foreigners occupying Afghanistan are attacking our religion."

Several Muslim clerics have threatened to incite Afghans to kill Rahman if he is freed, saying that he is clearly guilty of apostasy and deserves to die.

Rahman was arrested last month after police discovered him with a Bible. He was put on trial last week for converting 16 years ago while he was a medical aid worker for an international Christian group helping Afghan refugees in Pakistan. He had faced the death penalty under Afghanistan's Islamic laws.

The international outrage over Rahman's case put Karzai in a difficult position because he also risked offending religious sensibilities in Afghanistan, where senior Muslim clerics have been united in calling for Raham to be executed.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Shiite politicians raged at the United States and halted negotiations on a new government Monday after a military assault killed at least 16 people in what Iraqis claim was a mosque. Fresh violence erupted in the north, with 40 killed in a suicide bombing.

The firestorm of recrimination over Sunday's raid in northeast Baghdad will likely make it harder for Shiite politicians to keep a lid on their more angry followers as sectarian violence boils over, with at least 150 dead since Sunday. A unity government involving Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds is a benchmark for American hopes of starting to withdraw troops this summer.

The U.S. military said in a statement that "no mosques were entered or damaged during this operation." It said the raid targeted a building used by "insurgents responsible for kidnapping and execution activities."

The military said the building had been under observation for some time and that gunmen opened fire as Iraqi special operations troops closed in with U.S. forces in a backup role. It said the troops killed 16 insurgents and wounded three "during a house-to-house search," detained 18 others, found a significant weapons cache and secured the release of an Iraqi hostage.

"In our observation of the place and the activities that were going on, it's difficult for us to consider this a place of prayer," said Lt. Col. Barry Johnson, a U.S. military spokesman. "It was not identified by us as a mosque, though we certainly recognized it as a community gathering center. I think this is frankly a matter of perception."

Interior Minister Bayan Jabr angrily rejected the U.S. account and demanded a "clear explanation."

The United Iraqi Alliance, the largest Shiite bloc in parliament, canceled Monday's session of negotiations to form a new government because of the raid, said lawmaker Jawad al-Maliki.

"We suspended today's meetings to discuss the formation of the government because of what happened at the al-Moustafa mosque," al-Maliki said, adding that the alliance was expected to decide Tuesday when to resume the talks.

The Baghdad governor said he cut ties with U.S. forces and diplomats. And all 37 members of the Baghdad provincial council suspended cooperation with the United States in reconstruction projects planned for the remainder of the year, as well as political and security coordination, said council chairman Moeen al-Khadimi.

Later, gunmen kidnapped 16 employees of an Iraqi trading company, an Interior Ministry official said. The men arrived at the headquarters of the Saeed import and export company in four civilian cars and appeared to rifle through papers and computers before driving away with the employees, Lt. Col. Falah al-Mohammadawi said.

Also, gunmen kidnapped a university president after barging into his home in Ramadi, 70 miles west of Baghdad, a relative said. Four men grabbed Anbar University chief Abdul Hadi Rajab al-Hitawi and shoved him into a black car, said his brother-in-law, Khaldoun al-Ani.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Gunmen abducted 10 journalists and aid workers and vandalized offices linked to the U.S. and Britain, in the most violent campaign against foreigners in recent memory in the Palestinian territories. The mayhem was prompted by Israel's raid on a West Bank prison and seizure of a Palestinian militant leader and his accomplices in the assassination of an Israeli Cabinet minister.

Frightened foreigners sought refuge at Palestinian security headquarters, and a U.N. jeep came under fire as it tried to leave the coastal strip. Angry Palestinians accused Britain and the U.S. of complicity in Israel's siege of the prison.

By the end of the day, all but three of the kidnapped foreigners were freed.

The fury hit aid groups and organizations that have been working to alleviate the grinding poverty Palestinians face in Gaza, and it threatened to disrupt relief efforts.

The outbreak of anti-foreigner violence was the second in recent weeks. Reacting to Danish cartoons disparaging the Prophet Muhammad, angry Palestinians stormed European buildings and briefly held some aid workers. The relief teams had just started returning to the coastal strip when Tuesday's violence sent them scurrying for safety again.

Several international aid agencies, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency said they were temporarily pulling their staff out of the West Bank and Gaza.

Officials said U.N. operations would not be affected, as the 8,500 local Palestinian workers would remain on the job, while 13 foreign U.N. staffers were leaving the Palestinian areas.

The kidnappings started shortly after Israeli forces surrounded the Jericho prison, demanding the surrender of Ahmed Saadat, the leader of a radical PLO faction, and four of his alleged accomplices in the 2001 killing of an Israeli Cabinet minister. A sixth militant was being sought on other charges.

In Gaza, gunmen went from room to room in hotels, looking for foreigners. By midafternoon, they had taken a Swiss Red Cross worker, two Australian teachers, two French medical workers and three journalists — one French and two South Korean, Palestinian and foreign officials said.

Also kidnapped were a Canadian aid worker and an American professor at the American University in the West Bank town of Jenin.

The American professor, Douglas Johnson, said he was unharmed and understood his abductors' actions.

"They are angry over what is going on in Jericho. I feel sympathy with them," he told an Associated Press reporter at an abandoned cemetery where he was briefly held before being freed.

Palestinian security took some foreigners, including an AP photographer, into protective custody, while others found their own way to security headquarters.

Masked Palestinian security agents entered the AP office in Gaza City and instructed the photographer to collect his belongings. Speeding through Gaza streets, they took him to preventive security headquarters before escorting him and about 15 other foreigners to a crossing point with Israel.

Armed militants easily overpowered Palestinian police on their way to vandalizing Western aid agencies.

Gunmen burst into a British cultural center in the Gaza Strip and after a brief shootout with Palestinian police, torched the building, then shot at Palestinian fire engines, hampering efforts to put out the flames, witnesses said. There were no reports of casualties.

Militants also stormed the offices of AMIDEAST, a private American organization that provides English classes and academic testing services. The rioters broke windows and beat a Palestinian employee who tried to stop them.

"We don't want to see any Americans here," one of the gunmen shouted when Palestinian police approached the office.

In Gaza City, a crowd stormed empty European Union offices, smashing windows and replacing the EU flag with a militant banner. Some of the intruders shouted: "Death to the Americans, death to the British."

In the West Bank, dozens of Palestinians occupied the local British Council office, which had been evacuated.

They are the majority of muslims, and they exist in European countries such as the UK and France, and they are also in the U.S. The cruel slaughter of animals happens whereever muslims group together, and it is one example of the sick violence that muslims bring to their neighbors' backyard.


Ritual sheep slaughter sparks cruelty claims

Animal welfare groups say thousands of sheep slaughtered in France at the weekend endured unnecessary suffering.

The sheep, many of which are believed to have been exported from Britain and Ireland, were killed for the Muslim festival of Eid el-Kebir.


The RSPCA, which has monitored slaughtering at the festival for several years, says the killings were not only cruel but also illegal.

The French Government promised last year to enforce legislation implementing the European Union's directive on slaughter, which makes the religious killing of animals outside an abattoir illegal.

But the RSPCA says its undercover inspectors found many sheep being slaughtered in the open, without being stunned first.

It is to submit evidence to the European Commission urging it to act.

RSPCA Chief Superintendent Barry Fryer, said: "Many of the animals were slaughtered by inexperienced people who prolonged their suffering by using inappropriate equipment in appalling conditions.

"We have gathered evidence of roads being closed and police controlling crowds at several Eid el-Kebir festivals in and around Paris.

"Therefore the French authorities are clearly failing to enforce the legislation."

Apart from concern over the sheep being killed by inexperienced slaughterers who had not stunned them first, welfare groups oppose the long distances many of the animals would have had to travel to their final destination.

Earlier this month, the Farm Animal Welfare Minister, Elliot Morley, repeated the UK Government's preference that meat should be exported "on the hook, not on the hoof".

There is also opposition to the slaughtering of animals in plain view of each other, as happened in France.

In Britain, the religious slaughter of animals outside an abattoir was banned this year for the first time.

RSPCA inspectors are investigating an incident in Stoke-on-Trent last Saturday, where carcasses were removed following reports of illegal slaughter.

UNC Muslim Student Says Attack “Will of Allah”

Taheriazar said on Friday that he ran the students down to "avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world”. Kris Wampler, a student at UNC, member of the College Republicans and the organizer of a UNC students "anti-terrorism" rally said: “We don't want terrorism here, and we're not going to stand for that where we live and where we go to school."

Taheriazar is being held on a $5.5MM bond.

Mosque Destruction: It's a Good Thing

Perhaps Martha Stewart would say "It's a good thing" that the crazies are blowing-up their own mosques in Iraq. Certainly, anything that diminishes the power of Islam over the world has got to be good. Well-planned mosque destruction is a good start, but in order to make the effects last, you have to do it for the right reasons and in the right way.

A well-orchestrated campaign to tear down mosques throughout the world would ensure public safety and rid the world or some blighted buildings. That golden blob out in the old part of Jerusalem would look better as a pile of rubble.

SAMARRA, Iraq - Insurgents detonated bombs inside one of Iraq's holiest Shiite shrines Wednesday, destroying its golden dome and triggering more than 90 reprisal attacks on Sunni mosques. The president warned that extremists were pushing the country toward civil war, as many Shiites lashed out at the United States as partly to blame.

As the gold dome of the 1,200-year-old Askariya shrine lay in ruins, leaders on both sides called for calm: But the string of back-and-forth attacks seemed to push the country closer to all-out civil war than at any point in the three years since the U.S.-led overthrow of Saddam Hussein.

In one ominous sign of how Shiites may react, Iraq's top Shiite cleric and the country's vice president hinted that local armed militias might play a bigger role in security in future, if the government can't protect such holy shrines.

Both Sunnis and the United States fear the rise of such militias, which Sunnis view as little more than death squads. American commanders believe they undercut U.S. efforts to create a professional Iraqi army and police force — a key step toward the eventual drawdown of U.S. forces.

Some Shiite political leaders already were angry with the United States because it has urged them to form a unity government in which nonsectarian figures control the army and police. Khalilzad warned earlier this week — in a statement clearly targeted toward Shiite hardliners — that America would not continue to support institutions run by sectarian groups with links to armed militias.

After the attacks, one top Shiite political leader accused Khalilzad of sharing some responsibility for the bombing of the shrine because of that stance.

"These statements ... gave green lights to terrorist groups. And, therefore, he shares in part of the responsibility," said the official, Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim, head of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq and the former commander of its militia.

Large protests erupted in Shiite parts of Baghdad and in cities throughout the Shiite heartland to the south. In Basra, Shiite militants traded rifle and rocket-propelled grenade fire with guards at the office of the Iraqi Islamic Party. Smoke billowed from the building.

Shiite protesters later set fire to a Sunni shrine containing the seventh century tomb of Talha bin Obeid-Allah, companion of the Prophet Muhammad, on the outskirts of the southern city. Police found 11 bodies of Sunni Muslims, most of them shot in the head, in two neighborhoods of Basra, police Capt. Mushtaq Kadhim said. Two of the dead were Egyptians, Kadhim said.

Protesters in Najaf, Kut and Baghdad's Shiite slum of Sadr City also marched through the streets by the hundreds and thousands, many shouting anti-American and anti-Israeli slogans and burning those nations' flags.

A leading Russian Muslim leader has threatened a violent protest if a Gay Pride parade takes place in Moscow this spring.

Chief Russian Mufti of Russia's Central Spiritual Governance for Muslims, Talgat Tajuddin, told the Interfax news agency, "Muslims' protests can be even worse than these notorious rallies abroad over the scandalous cartoons."

"The parade should not be allowed, and if they still come out into the streets, then they should be bashed," he said. "Sexual minorities have no rights, because they have crossed the line. Alternative sexuality is a crime against God."

Russian LGBT leaders announced in July that they would try to hold Pride celebrations in Moscow on May 27, 2006 -- the anniversary of the abolition of Soviet laws against homosexuality in 1993.

The Russian capital has never had a Pride parade before.

Nikolai Alekseev, one of the organizers of Moscow LGBT Festival and Pride, responded to the threats and said, "The position of Talgat Tajuddin is unacceptable."

"What is terrible is that he used the current situation in the world connected with the publication of cartoons, to incite hatred towards those who have absolutely no connection to that."


Yes, I too find it ironic that any mullah comes out against gays given the fact that these perverts have a particular reputation for screwing anything in their path.
